The CMO of FCA had been wanting to work with Bruce Springsteen for years and it looked like it was finally going to happen... and then Trump won the presidency and Bruce opted out. This film was pretty simple. Bruce would recite the famous Emma Lazarus poem while driving a beat up old pick-up truck. We'd then cut the rest of the film, showing the hardworking immigrants who make up this country, all around his words. Simple and powerful. Bruce liked it. FCA was a bit nervous about it, because they weren't sure about doing something SOOOO political. Even after Bruce bowed out, we tried to get them to make it without Bruce, but they were spooked. They ultimately regretted it, when one of the first things Trump did was implement the Travel Ban. Sometimes you gotta just go with your gut.
